The VCA Student Union has a proud and colourful history of standing up for students’ rights. In the past decade the Union has actively campaigned against regressive attacks on higher education. We have opposed the introduction of up-front fees, HECS increases and fee increases for domestic and international students, and cuts to Youth Allowance, Newstart and Abstudy.

We advocate in the VCA, in the public arena, in the media and on the streets for all students’ right to a well funded, affordable, quality education. Our student representatives are democratically elected on an annual basis to represent students in each discipline and are answerable to the entire student body. Open, democratic, grass-roots involvement is the most essential factor in keeping the VCA Student Union relevant and accountable to students.
